Pool is also an ideal activity for spending quality time with family and friends, and trickshots even more so, as they allow you to learn together and then challenge each other. We've come up with three perfect trick shots for you to try out, because although they're easy to learn, you'll need to try them out a few times before they're right. Who will learn these impressive shots the fastest? Who will be the first to perform them successfully? It's up to you, with the help of Florian Kohler, an expert in artistic billiards, two-time world champion and holder of numerous records.
The first trickshot that we suggest you learn with your family with Florian Kohler is the so-called ‘cushion compression’. Here, the cue ball is along a rail and two other balls are nearby, forming a right-angled triangle. The aim is to get the ball that is not directly touching the cue ball at the start into the middle pocket. This shot is a little more technical than it looks, requiring concentration, precision and patience.
The second shot that Florian Kohler, alias Venom, will teach you to perform is a ‘forced sink’ shot. Two balls are located near two pockets at the end of the table. The cue ball is along a rail. Impossible to get both balls in at once? Not for you, once you've watched this video. A little spin and precision and you're done.
The third trickshot in this video is called ‘the point shot’ or ‘the Efren Reyes shot’, named after the legendary player who invented it. He invented a way of getting out of a rather peculiar situation, when the white ball seems to be stuck between two marbles and it seems impossible to reach the black one to win the game. The trick is to aim for the corner of a pocket and bounce the cue ball off it, to achieve a particularly impressive visual effect.
