The world's best-known trick shots

Playing the world's best-known billiards trickshots with Florian Kohler

In this tutorial, find out how to perform three moves that have taken the world by storm. Taken from a film, an advert or simply a popular bet, these trickshots are accessible to everyone. You don't need to be a seasoned gambler to pull off these impressive moves. To help you do them, we've put together some advice from an expert: Florian Kohler, two-time world champion and holder of numerous trick shot records.

The coin in the glass

The first trick that Florian Kohler teaches you is often used for bets between friends. It consists of pushing a coin placed on the edge of the board into a glass placed on the edge of the table. It is relatively simple to perform and quite visual. It's all about the dose: the shot must be neither too strong nor too weak.

The iconic trickshot from the film ‘Poolhall Junkies

The second shot in this tutorial was made famous by the film ‘Poolhall Junkies’ starring Christopher Walken. This shot can be used for a demonstration or a bet, as well as during a game. The aim is to hit the same ball twice with the cue ball: once to make it roll along the rail, and again to make it enter the pocket.

"Just showing off"

The third trickshot in this lesson is particularly impressive. It's called the ‘just showing off’, and it's famous because it was used in a widely broadcast advert in the 70s. It comes in two versions, with 5 marbles to start practising this shot and with 6 marbles once you've mastered it. It was with 6 marbles that the 'just showing off' shot was performed in the original version of the advert that made it famous.
